Like most families and businesses, Ullmann Wealth Partners adapted to the “Safer at home” order. Our physical office has been open every day during this time with a skeleton staff, but most of our employees have worked from home. We have been able to communicate with each other and with our clients via cell phone and online meetings, while monitoring client accounts through secure internet and other applications.

We asked our staff questions about their “Safer at home” experience and thought it would be fun to share a few of their stories.

Describe your work from home location. Back spare bedroom; have a nice desk, TV off to right wall; a small window that looks out to our “Cardinal Tree”—bird feeder and constant fly by of all sorts of birds.
What is the best part of working from home for you? I can wear shorts and a T-shirt but for online meeting just slip on a nice dress shirt—like they do in the news business; that I get to see Lisa during the day even if for just a few minutes between appointments or calls.
What do you miss most about the office? Our team interactions; the energy of a well working team and shared energy.
What is the best thing you have binged (podcast, movie, TV or book)? Unorthodox.
Are you learning any new skills or have any goals you are trying to accomplish? Yes. To slow down; online meetings; reworking my emails and how I collect, work through and dispose of incoming messages.
Beth Harwood, Operations Manager
Describe your work from home location. The room I always thought to be my office turns out to be the favorite room for my dogs to bark through the window as well as the room where my 8-year-old believes has the best TV.
What is the best part of working from home for you? Not having to constantly rush.
What do you miss most about the office? Grown Ups.
What is the best thing you have binged (podcast, movie, TV or book)? Carol Burnett Show (it’s back on every night).
Are you learning any new skills or have any goals you are trying to accomplish? Learning that 1st graders do “common core” math? Goal = teach him how to carry the one!
Brian James, Investment Director
Describe your work from home location. My bedroom, 2 monitors on a Costco foldable banquet table facing outside, looking over the backyard/golf course, reading chair behind me.
What is the best part of working from home for you? Flexibility, ability to focus, go for a walk/run/exercise when I get tired, not tied to “business” hours. Having my dogs in my “office”, seeing my family, seeing what I like better, what works, what does not work, in terms of my work… will incorporate changes when we are back to normal.
What do you miss most about the office? The Team! Distant second the espresso machine.
What is the best thing you have binged (podcast, movie, TV or book)? Four Hour workweek (Audio book), Getting Things Done (book), Dexter, Designated Survivor, Ozark.
Are you learning any new skills or have any goals you are trying to accomplish? Self-reflection, running faster mile, be in better shape than I was before this started… new skill is online meeting!
Pat Kilbane, Director, Divorce Advisory Group
Describe your work from home location. Mainly my home office, but I’ll occasionally set up at the kitchen counter so I can have the opportunity to monitor the daily financial news with the TV on mute.
What is the best part of working from home for you? This one is easy. Avoiding the daily commute to and from the office.
What do you miss most about the office? I miss the daily interaction with our clients and team. Nothing can replace the face-to-face meetings.
What is the best thing you have binged (podcast, movie, TV or book)? N/A. I am not a binger.
Are you learning any new skills or have any goals you are trying to accomplish? After a five-year hiatus, I started running again.
